There's a new roof on Ramsey's Historic Town Hall just in time for the snow to fall. I support preserving our Historic Town Hall-the one Historic building in Ramsey.

Monument Sign

Have you seen the new monument sign at the NorthStar Commuter Rail Station? The previous sign was damaged in a motor vehicle accident. I agreed that the sign needed to be replaced, but I did not approve the large dynamic display with a price tag of $136,690. I wanted staff to decrease the size of the dynamic display to decrease the cost of the sign- thus I opposed approving this action. You can see further details here City Council Case . I continue to strive to spend the tax payers money wisely and sometimes the smallest bid received isn't the right bid to approve.

Franchise Fees

Franchise Fees are a Tax not a fee. Franchise fees if approved will tax not only residential properties, but businesses and non-profits. I have a fundamental issue with placing a tax on a non-profit. One of the arguments for franchise fees is that it's fair for all and that each residential property pays the same amount, but if that's the case those that have the lowest property values who are likely lower in income will be taxed 100-160% higher than the rest. Those that are in the highest valued properties will actually be paying less. Is that fair for all? I don't think so.

Apartments in COR

7/18/2019

I have listened to YOU residents and was opposed to another apartment building being built in the COR during the 7/9/19 Council meeting. We need more businesses in the COR to create the vision of Ramsey's retail district. I agree with YOU (the residents) that we have enough apartments in the COR already.

City Code Violations

6/18/2019

We are a complaint based City meaning when a complaint comes in from a neighbor we must act. This at times results in a violation being issued. It is my hope that these matters can be handled respectfully with all parties being engaged in the process. If a resident would like our city code changed there is a process for that and I encourage you to take part, so we can ensure our city code works for our current residents.
